ROOKIE HURLERS TO TARGET

Quick confession from your Online Auctioneer: I usually write more than I need, leaving me with cutting-room-floor items that may resurface later. Example: Six weeks into the current baseball season, I compiled quick hits on hot MLB pitching prospects making an instant impact on the diamond and in the hobby. It wouldn’t fit into a column a few weeks ago, so I put it on the back burner.

As we know, a quick impact in the bigs doesn’t always translate into a Hall of Fame-caliber pitcher. As such, most of the pitchers on the list I compiled in May hit bumps in the road — some due to injury, some due to performance.

The names? Grayson Rodriguez, Logan Allen, Bryce Miller, Mason Miller, Tanner Bibee and Hunter Brown. I wondered, in my unpublished bit, which ones may pan out — and whether there may be a “next David Nied” among them, Nied, as 1990s-era collectors can
