Signs of the times

Those planning to drive across Europe on holiday have been warned that failure to comply with unusual road signs could lead to significant penalties.

The vehicle hire experts at StressFreeCarRental.com have identified some unfamiliar road signs in Europe that could cause caravanners an issue if they ignore them.

Road safety and traffic regulations differ across Europe, of course, but drivers breaking those rules can expect a fine, points on their licence, and even a driving licence suspension for being unaware of some signs.

For example, ignoring road signs in France could result in a fine of €135 (£116), four penalty points and a three-year licence suspension. Meanwhile, unsafe passing or violating road signs in Germany incurs a €300 fine.
