THE editor recently made some excellent points about the spurious belts and titles that litter our sport. Here are a couple of examples from fights that I've just watched.
Firstly, the Zak Chelli vs Mark Jeffers fight in Manchester on Sky Sports – an excellent domestic super-middleweight matchup, for sure. Yet Jeffers was introduced as the WBO Global champion, whatever that is, and Chelli as the WBA Continental champion. To compound matters, they were fighting for the vacant Commonwealth Silver championship.
