Is freezing a path to eternal life?

LIKELY

Bodies can be frozen gently

1 Small tissue fragments can already be flash-frozen to a temperature of -196 degrees in liquid nitrogen without the formation of ice crystals (which cut holes in cells). It is likely that the same could be done to a whole body, but we do not know.

DUBIOUS

People can be defrosted and revived

2 The defrosting would have to be perfectly even, or the body will crack. Tissue has been frozen with iron nanoparticles and subsequently successfully defrosted in a magnetic field, but it is dubious whether this method could be used on a whole body.

SPECULATIVE

All diseases can be cured one day

3 Even if cures are found, could damage sustained from the disease during life be repaired? Nanorobots might at some point be able to repair cells, but the idea that a defrosted person could continue life is currently pure speculation.

The boy is 10 years old, but he was born 30 years ago. For two decades, his small body has been frozen and stored
