“Things get a bit mouldy and leechy… it’s a small price to pay for living in such a precious part of the world
The chairs on the deck at the home James Gulliver Hancock and Lenka Kripac share in the NSW south coast hinterland are developing a life of their own as they are slowly being covered by wisps of pale-green fuzz. After several years of La Niña, the couple has become accustomed to constant rain, their home in the forest being enveloped by clouds and lichen growing on anything that stands still, outdoor settings included.
“That’s what happens when you live in a temperate rainforest,” Lenka observes. “Things get a bit mouldy and leechy. Nonetheless, it’s a small price to pay for living in such a precious part of the world.”
