BUDGERIGARS
THE clearwing is a variety that attracts many budgerigar keepers to breeding our birds, writes Fred Wright. When people make a start, they are frequently looking for clearwing violets. Clearwings are not in fact difficult to breed. Their problems, from an exhibition point of view, are a big protruding beak, a small head, heavily marked wings and, generally, fine feather.
Clearwings are whitewings (blue series birds) and yellow-wings (green series birds). Each is about a good strong body colour in contrast with clear white or yellow wings. Tocobalts, violets and dark greens. All clearwings should have a violet or pale violet cheek patch.
