When Emily and Dan bought it, the house had been rented out for years, leaving it run-down and unsuitable for modern family life. Cue architect David Hansford, who took the 1880s structure (formerly called ‘Bristol Cottage’) and created a contemporary home with ground-floor living and a connection to the yard. The addition was set back to allow the character dwelling to maintain its presence in the streetscape while the backyard was raised to provide easy lawn access.
