The Memphis-Milano movement that inspired the brand of the same name has a storied history. It originated in 1981 at Ettore Sottsass’ Milan studio based on ideas from him and other designers and architects in, a project put together by artists, which yielded two collections in 1989 and 1991, and which brought Memphis-Milano back into the spotlight. Since then, many renowned names have contributed to the brand. Now, The Office in the Miami Design District gets to be part of that legacy. The gallery/showroom recently entered into a partnership that makes it one of the few brick-and-mortar establishments in the U.S. to carry the brand. On the inventory? Chairs, desks, shelving, and lighting for tastes that are averse to convention.
