SPRING TO LIFE

A NIGHT OF REVELRY

To evoke the joy of togetherness—and celebrate the myriad hues of Punjab—Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla present The Glory of Giddha, a short film that explores the traditional folk dance performed during celebratory occasions in the region. Intrigued by Noor Zara, the first-ever male Giddha performer, master couturier Sandeep Khosla reminisces the glorious memories of his hometown Kapurthala. "When Abu and I met for the very first time, we travelled to my hometown for Lohri celebrations. Watching Noor Zara summoned a sense of nostalgia…and we decided to honour that memory via this film," he shares. The film features the designer duo’s friends and family along with the giddha group of Noor Zara, doused in multi-coloured silk garments with hints of zardosi and gota embroidery—a visual treat, to say the least.
