DURIAN AND ITS INSEPARABLE PESTS

The durian, known as the king of fruits, is one of the highly priced fruits available in the market. It has a distinctive pungent and yet acquired smell and taste that one will either love or hate it.

Lately, the fruit has seen the prices soar tremendously due to its popular demand, especially by China.

This has spurred many local farmers to replace their existing crops with durian trees, while some farmers even increase their productions by expanding the cultivating areas into the forests so as to cater for the increasing demand.

Cultivating durian crop is a feat as most trees are delicate to the changing climate. The trees require daily irrigation especially during dry spells and regular fertilization for healthy growth and development. Durian crop, like any other fruit trees or edible plants for the matter, are prone to attack
