DAVID HOCKNEY: BIGGER & CLOSER (NOT SMALLER & FURTHER AWAY)

This immersive view takes the audience on a personal journey through Hockney’s art, from the 1960’s through to present day, featuring iconic paintings alongside some rarely seen pieces and several newly created works. Hockney uses the innovative Lightroom venue to present his life-long fascination with the possibilities of new media, giving vibrant expression in a show that invites visitors to see the world through his eyes.

Challenging opinions about perspective, viewers are invited to take a journey through his work, from the pools and hills of California to the French countryside, narrated by Hockney himself, as the works are displayed all around the room via wraparound digital projections. Most fascinating are the pieces created on iPads that emerge on the screens, giving visitors the perception that they are standing over the artist’s shoulder watching him
