This year, as part of Australia’s commitment to the Uluru Statement from the Heart, a referendum will be held asking all Australians to decide whether we should “alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.” This is an important stepping stone in involving Indigenous Australians in shaping policies and laws that affect them.
