AUDI TT Mk1 (1998-2006)

From launch the Audi TT was heralded by the motoring press and car enthusiasts alike as a future classic, with its striking aesthetics and powerful engines ensuring it played a memorable role in the thriving coupe segment throughout the 2000s. Now, the first iteration of the TT has reached the 25-year milestone, and it’s still affordable enough for a wide range of buyers to enjoy its charms.

The TT Mk1 – codenamed 8N – utilised the Mk4 Golf and Audi A3 platform and was surprisingly close to the original concept car. The earliest TTs were all powered by a 1.8-litreinline four-cylinder 20-valve turbocharged engine (the infamous 1.8T) offered in 178bhp and 222bhp states of tune. They are essential the same engine with the more powerful version using a K04 turbo
