It couldn‘t be easier: Record a drum set with one microphone

It would be the dream of all live mixers and studio people: set up the drum kit, point a single microphone at it and go. Unfortunately, this doesn‘t work in most cases, the reason being the common sound ideas we have about recorded drums. It starts with the lack of a stereo image and doesn‘t end with the lack of options for separate sound shaping. But that doesn‘t mean that it can‘t and shouldn‘t be done. On the contrary.
