Surely everybody is aware of the theory of The Six Degrees of Separation? It's been around for a while (since 1929 if dates matter), and puts forth the proposition that we are all just six steps (or social contacts) away from knowing and/or locating anyone on the planet. Current interpretations include Tom Cruise being everybody's best friend, and that we are all, at the very furthest remove, the Queen's third cousin. And yes, I do know she's died, but the theory hasn't yet caught
