Three decades and counting - in April 2019, Getaway turned 30. Over the years it has published several photographic coffee-table books. This, its fourth, focuses primarily on work from the last decade.
By its 30th birthday, the magazine had entailed some 6 000 journeys filling more than 30 000 pages and producing hundreds of thousands of images. Photojournalists rode camels through the Sahara, hot-air ballooned above the great wildebeest migration, scuba-dived Red Sea wrecks, summited Kilimanjaro, sailed a dhow to Somalia and trekked across Antarctica
