Lorraine Fyfe, 41, from West Scotland
Heading to my first day of nurse training, I smiled proudly to myself.
It was 2005 and I couldn’t wait to start.
As a senior nurse checked us over, she smiled at me and glanced at my petite figure.
‘What size are you?’ she asked, searching through the uniforms.
‘I’m a six,’ I beamed.
‘We only have a size eight, but you’ll be a size 14 soon,’ she chuckled.
Yeah right! I thought. Not me.
I managed to avoid unhealthy eating, which came hand-in-hand for lots of people working long shifts.
