IT’S A CELEBRATION

Heading to my first day of nurse training, I smiled proudly to myself.

It was 2005 and I couldn’t wait to start.

As a senior nurse checked us over, she smiled at me and glanced at my petite figure.

‘What size are you?’ she asked, searching through the uniforms.

‘I’m a six,’ I beamed.

‘We only have a size eight, but you’ll be a size 14 soon,’ she chuckled.

Yeah right! I thought. Not me.

I managed to avoid unhealthy eating, which came hand-in-hand for lots of people working long shifts.
