GREETINGS FROM A HAPPY NEW READER

In 1912 John W R Tennant and a younger sister emigrated from Edinburgh in search of a better life.

They booked passage on the, but changed their plans, I’m happy to say, or you wouldn’t be reading this. Instead, they took an earlier passage on the and landed in New York. Once in America they split up, the sister went to Canada, and John wound up in Chicago, where he met and wed Mildred, whose mother was also from Scotland. I am their only son, Bruce Walker Tennant. Aged 93, I live with my wife in a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Greenwood, South Carolina. A subscriber has been passing her magazine on to me, and I have enjoyed looking through it and wishing I could visit Scotland again.
