Silence finally fell across the table as my kids tucked into the feast in front of them.
‘Delicious, as usual,’ I told my best friend, Monte, diving into the mac and cheese myself.
It was March 2019, and I’d known Monte, then 28, and his hubby, Mario, 29, a year.
We’d hit it off at my cousin Ashley’s party.
Now my hubby, Richard, then 27, and three kids, Destiny, then 7, Eli, 6 and Melanie, 8 months, would go to their place for dinner most weeks.
