TRUE-LIFE
Tickling my newborn baby girl’s feet on her changing mat, I watched her wiggle her arms in delight.
But something definitely wasn’t right.
Her lower half stayed stiff, unmoving.
‘Mummy, why can’t Freya move her legs?’ her big sister Olivia, then 6, asked.
Forcing a smile, I reassured Olivia.
‘She was just born a bit different,’ I said.
But the truth was, I had no idea what was wrong with Freya.
It was September 2017 and she was only a few days old.
The moment Freya had been placed in my arms I’d noticed she wasn’t as squirmy as Olivia had been.
