RSS names ‘08’ after ShunterSpot owner

RAILWAY Support Services named No. 08703 Steve Blick (Concrete Bob) ShunterSpot in a small ceremony at the company’s Wishaw base on May 21.

The naming was in honour of the enthusiast who owned the internet discussion forum, who passed away in February 2021, following a short battle with cancer. The event was two years in the making, with members of the forum providing funds to pay for the cast nameplates after Andrew Goodrum, RSS managing director, agreed to name one of the company’s ‘08s’ after Steve, with whom he frequently conversed about the latest developments with the fleet.

The event was timed to coincide with a visit by members of the InterCity Railway Society (ICRS), and a charity collection on the day along with a donation by RSS saw £500 raised for the Railway Children charity.
