Buddy Gross’ Long Shot For Slow Summer Days

Buddy Gross is bummed. In the dog days of summer, the Elite Series pro from east Tennessee most often finds himself chasing a spawn as the circuit heads north. And while he’s usually stoked to be fishing some of the best smallmouth fisheries on the planet during the Northern swing, he occasionally finds himself reminiscing about burning daylight down South on the Tennessee River. There — when he’s not fishing a tournament — he has mastered a summertime pattern that may turn heads.

“We can talk about long lining,” Gross crackles over the phone. “It’s not something that a lot of people do or even talk about, but it’s definitely a big deal this time of year.”
