One of my worst fears is waking up one day and adopting a woefully nonchalant character that seems to be popping up all over our community. A series of unfortunate events are, undoubtedly, taking their toll in real-time. This stoicism hardens the exterior as a means of protection because softness, vulnerability, and ease are feelings not typically associated with the strength we need to get by on a day-to-day basis. It’s often remarked that we aren’t afforded the grace we require from others, yet we’re also innately dismissive of this grace within ourselves, I’ve found.
