“Common” can be a relative term when it comes to coins. A circulated 1998 dime might be considered common, as might a 1945 Lincoln cent.
To half cent or type collectors, the 1797 half cent might well be considered common, but that hardly means that it can be found in any dealer’s junk box. In fact, it
