Four Shows in 10 Days Cap Busy Month of April

Locally, the month of April for me started off with a bang. The first Saturday found me putting in a shift at the annual WDUX Home Show in Waupaca staffing a booth for the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce and the Iola Historical Society (IHS). The following day, Palm Sunday, I drove down to Appleton to attend the 67th annual Fox Valley Coin Club show and help fly the flag for the Numismatists of Wisconsin (NOW).

Leaving home at 8:30 a.m., I arrived at the FVCC venue about an hour later, following a 47-mile drive. The 27-dealer, 54-table bourse had attendees packed two deep at every turn. The members’ wives were out in force selling raffle tickets. One of my missions of the day was to present an ANA Presidential Award on behalf of Ralph Ross to outgoing NOW News editor Jeff Reichenberger.

Around noontime, I treated myself to a roasted tomato and mozzarella panini at the Starbucks in the hotel lobby. Following our annual NOW meetings – five board members present, with four more participating electronically – pulling up stakes to head home shortly after 3 p.m., a nice crowd was still milling about the bourse. At that point, it didn’t appear a single dealer had yet packed up and departed. Then, on Tuesday, in the afternoon I participated in a Zoom meeting of the ANA Fund Development Committee.
