VICKERS MEDIUM MKI TANK

ickers developed its Medium MkI tank as a private commercial venture in competition with the British government’s funded Medium D, Medium C and Light Tank projects. Vickers’ gamble paid off as the officially financed designs failed to meet expectations and were rejected by the Royal Armoured Corps (RAC). Confusingly, the two Vickers prototypes were called A2E1, Tank, Light MkI but the design was later redesignated as the Vickers Medium MkI tank as it weighed 11.7 tons.
