Two years ago, when Karen Lambeck and Bill Harvey bought their property in Yabberup in southwest Western Australia, it was the realisation of a 10-year dream to own a farm they could live off in a sustainable way.

After 20-plus years in the mining industry, Karen felt she’d lost touch with her core belief in a natural lifestyle. Bill meanwhile was away working for long periods. “It was not how we wanted to live our lives,” says Karen.

At Yabberup, around 20 minutes east of Donnybrook, Karen now runs a nature and wellness haven called Karrabilli Retreat.
