THOSE SMASHING AVOCADOS

As well as being on trend as far as cafe menus go, avocados are becoming very popular in backyard orchards around Australia, at least in part because of the availability of smaller trees.

Avocados are usually seen as tall, shady trees with crops of delicious, egg-shaped green fruit.

But recently they’ve had a bit of a makeover. Today, there’s a choice between tall and dwarf trees. Dwarf varieties, which produce normal-sized fruit, can be grown in a container, courtyard or mini-orchard on a suburban block.
