EDITOR'S LETTER

t's so tempting to go with the flow when commissioning a supeiyacht. Resale looms large; as does loss of reputation. No one wants to have the ugliest boat in are the result. Our panel ofWorld Supeiyacht Awards judges so admired the 75-metre and its fresh approach to supeiyacht design that they awarded her the big one, Motor Yacht of the Year, at the World Supeiyacht Awards in May. I'd like to extend my congratulations to her owner and the whole team behind the project, many of whom were new to the world of yachting. You can see all the other winners of our prestigious Neptune trophies from page 91. We write about another similarly driven owner this month: Emilio Azcárraga (). The Mexican billionaire was a titanic figure and built one of the world's best-known boats: 74.5-metre Eco, now Zeus. I loved this line from our story, delivered blundy to the yacht's designer, Martin Francis, after he presented his initial concept sketches: “Your proposal is shit. But Hike your work methods.” Azćarraga, known as El Tigre, broke all the rules with that boat and loved his creation so much he chose to die on it. Here's to going against the flow.
