I’VE had some bizarre escapades in cars in my time, but herding sheep from behind the wheel of a Bentley ranks up there with the very strangest, the most fun and the most pressured things I’ve ever done on four wheels.
I had turned up at Goodwoof – the annual celebration of all things canine on the Duke of Richmond’s Goodwood estate – with my own pet pooch Sky for a fun, four-legged day out. But then I was approached by an old friend, Bentley’s chief communications officer Wayne Bruce, who asked me a question with a twist.
“Fancy driving the new Bentayga Hybrid S? Nobody’s driven it anywhere else yet,” he asked eagerly. The thought of an exclusive first drive on the roads around Goodwood was something too good to miss, so naturally I instantly agreed.
Then the twist rolled into town – or more accurately, down the picturesque hills of the Goodwood estate.
