JAKE HILL: THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THE FEELING OF WINNING

Jake Hill has been around motorsport for his entire life. He has forged a fearsome reputation for success in the British Touring Car Championship at the wheel of an MB Motorsport BMW 330e M Sport, and he went into the final rounds of the 2022 campaign as one of the five in with a shot at the crown.

It was only appropriate that the showdown was at Brands Hatch. Hill, from down the road in Tunbridge Wells, is used to every nuance of the Kent circuit. He spent his formative years watching his dad Simon battle in Formula Ford 1600, Formula Renault, Lotus and Renault Spider machines among other things.

Hill has eclipsed the achievements of his father. He cut his teeth in the Ginetta Junior Championship after limited karting, and being paired alongside Mark Blundell in the BTCC in 2019 was a major turning point for him.

Ex-F1 racer Blundell saw the latent ability Hill had at close quarters and quickly co-opted Hill into his management stable. It is those foundations that have helped him to the highs he enjoys today.

As well as his exploits at the sharp end of the British Touring Car Championship, Hill has also raced a variety of historic cars and has quickly become a fan favourite at Goodwood. The momentum his career has already built up shows no signs of slowing down.

Hill took time out of his busy schedule ahead of last weekend’s rounds at Thruxton, and we are grateful.

It was a poster of the Peugeot 908 which won Le Mans in 2009 with David Brabham, Marc Gene and Alex Wurz driving. Dad had actually missed my first race win in Ginetta Juniors at Croft because he was at Le Mans commentating at the time.

“To make up for it, dad got this poster of the 908 and he got every single works driver from all three of the factory entries to sign this
