Belushi’s career has spanned entertainment, music, and comedy, but this particular interview focused on the real challenges that he and other cannabis cultivators are experiencing. “Being in the cannabis business in Oregon? It’s a struggle right now in Oregon. It’s a struggle right now in California, and in Colorado. The business is changing,” he told . “Everybody is suffering. Every dispensary, every grower.” Belushi explained that there are too many approved grow licenses, too much product available, and not enough demand. Additionally, illegal operators have set up in Oregon, which Belushi said is a threat to consumer safety. “We were very concerned about the amount of organized crime in Jackson County. With black market cannabis, you don’t know what you’re ingesting.”
