Hunting in paradise

After a pandemic full of false starts, I was finally heading south for a forest hunt in New South Wales. Meeting up with good friends Darcy and Jono along the way, we grabbed some supplies, topped up the fuel tanks and managed a quick feed.

About an hour later we were in camp and soon after had everything set up and in its place. With that done we headed out for a late afternoon look-see. What we found was a forest in full bloom. Ground water was plentiful and after two strong seasons of rain the usual scrubby grass was looking decidedly pasture like. With plenty of game sign though no physical animals spotted, we were looking forward to the next few days.

The following morning after a quick breakfast we made ourselves ready for a day’s worth of hunting. It stayed cool, which made for a comfortable day hauling a pack. When
