NADIA ATTIA

Inever planned to be an author. When I was little I wanted to be a vet because I loved animals but then I realised it involved cutting them up. Then I wanted to be a journalist (tick) and a music video director – I’d subconsciously tapped into a love of storytelling. I wrote and illustrated stories as a child – mainly about meadows and wild animals, inspired by Colin Dann and fairy tales – and wrote poetry that often earned a place on the fridge. I studied English Literature at college and won a communications award, and at Bournemouth University I was editor of the music magazine.

Throughout my TV/film career I kept notebooks and jotted down
