The OODA Loop is the Observe– Orientate–Decide–Act cycle developed by US Airforce Colonel John Boyd. Under Boyd’s tutelage, it became an important concept in teaching military combat strategy. The OODA Loop is a decision-making process that repeats in a recurring cycle.
When applied to a life-threatening or potentially injurious situation, the individual who can process this cycle quickly, observing and reacting to unfolding events more rapidly than an opponent, can thereby ‘get inside’ the opponent’s decision cycle and gain the advantage.
