DECO DRAMA

AVIATOR

Sywell, Northamptonshire

Plane enthusiasts and Art Deco devotees alike will love Sywell's Aviator hotel. The main building, adjacent to Sywell Aerodrome, was formerly the pilots' clubhouse and officers' mess during the Second World War. Work on it began in 1933, incorporating the sleek lines and curved steel frames that were in fashion at the time. These features have been well preserved over the past century and, now a popular hotel, the Aviator wears its heritage proudly – carrying the Art Deco theme through its lavish interior.
