MATERNAL

Mums on the front line

Screening: TVNZ 1, 10.05pm

Streaming: TVNZ +

A six-part drama following three women who return from maternity leave to work as doctors in Britain’s NHS. Paediatric registrar Maryam (Parminder Nagra, back in scrubs having done six years on ), surgeon Catherine (Lara Pulver, ) and acute medicine registrar Helen (Lisa McGrillis, ) must navigate not only the politics of the system but also the expectations of motherhood. It marks the TV debut of playwright Jacqui Honess-Martin. Critics were united this year – but it didn’t win enough viewers for ITV to commission another season.
