Best time to visit Porterville? Year-round, although it can get pretty hot in high summer. “We have incredible winters here,”says Eugene Calitz from The Heritage Country House. “We have rainy spells but the wind dies down completely.”Paragliding season is from November to February.

How to get there? Porterville is about 150km north of Cape Town. Drive there via the N1 and the R44, or via the N7 to Piketberg and down.
