Bad Cat was founded by James Heidrich in 2000 in Southern California, producing handmade valve designs to satisfy the demand for high-end guitar tone. Early models were designed and built by Matchless’s Mark Sampson, with later Bad Cat products evolving into their own distinct character.
2 What’s the difference between printed circuit and hand wired?
The only real difference today is cost. A hand-wired amp takes much longer to build. In terms of tone, there’s no real difference – properly designed PCB amplifiers boast better consistency and reliability, and your pocket will thank you.
3 What’s special about the loudspeaker here?
It’s an exclusive version of the Celestion Vintage 30, which is made in the UK to Bad Cat’s specifications. Only a few manufacturers have UK-made Celestion drivers and Bad Cat is one of them.
