Co-writers/directors Charles and Thomas Guard bring an evocative, atmospheric sense of place to this IRA drama based on a script by Ronan Bennett . Flitting between Ireland and London in the 1970s, it stars Colin Morgan as Irish paramilitary Michael, who seeks revenge after SAS officer Tempest (Aml Ameen) kills his pregnant wife in an ambush. Also featuring Mark Strong and Felicity Jones, it’s an uncompromising tale driven by two muscular lead performances. However, you may come away feeling that the scope of the story could have been opened out a touch more.
