ollowing up his 2019 coming-of-ager , writer and director Gene Stupnitsky was catapulted from working with a cast of 12-year-old boys to directing Oscar-winning Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence. He also found himself tackling a different tone to his bawdy feature debut. ‘This was the first thing I’d done that. ‘It was really refreshing to not have everything be coming from a comedic place, but also emotional.’
