Shropshire, is a rural county and farming plays a major role in the local economy. Andrew’s family have been in business since 1928, and currently haul grain and bulk animal feeds.
Their second business Bulkrite Limited, was established in 1978 by Andrew and his father Fred. The company specialises in the design, manufacture, and repair of all types of commercial vehicle bodies, ranging from dropside platforms to four-deck livestock containers.
“My father had been making platform and tipping bodies for many years to use on our own lorries,” Andrew explained. “Then in 1965, the family bought its first bulk blower on a six-wheel Albion Reiver. The company fleet gradually converted to bulk blowers and by the mid-70s, we were building the bodies in the company workshop.”
One thing led to another, and the family’s bulk bodies soon acquired a good reputation.
“We were being approached by other animal feed companies to supply them with bodies, so we started building them full time,” Andrew recalls. “We bought a stock of bulk blowing spares from Callow Engineering a company up in Skelmersdale,
