BLACK 'N' GREEN Street Machine

Tony Chesters’ retro-looking green and black Vespa pays more than a passing nod to the late 80s.

It was during the 1980s Scooter Boy era that Vespa street racers stepped out from the shadows cast by their Lambretta counterparts. Arguably, many of the advances made in aftermarket items for Vespa scooters were due to restrictive type approval laws imposed in Germany and Austria; it’s certainly true that Teutonic-built Vespa street racers were at the genre’s vanguard for more than a decade. Street racer scooters have never been out of fashion; however, old school, full-bodied, racing-inspired customs have been noticeably less popular in recent times. Redressing that balance is Tony Chesters’ retro-looking green and black Vespa that, in silhouette, pays more than a passing nod to the late 80s.
