I must respond to the untrue letter from Malcolm Bazement from Bristol [Issue 1562, May 1], who states that the extortionate (in Mr Bazement’s opinion) wage demands from train drivers, nurses, council workers etc are what is causing inflation. Presumably, he thinks that these wage demands are not affordable by employers.
