ONE OF THE world's largest macaws, the great green macaw (Ara ambiguus) is a magnificent sight in the forest, whether flying, feeding or simply resting. Alarmingly, such sightings have become so much less frequent that in 2020 the species was officially re-categorised in the IUCN Red List from Endangered to Critically Endangered.
