Airgun Shooter

RIFLE TEST ICE ICE BABY

There's an ongoing debate about whether it's better to learn to shoot with a PCP, but for many people a spring piston rifle is where they'll begin – and for others that's all they'll ever want or need. The BSA Comet has fulfilled this latter role for decades, and the tradition continues with the very latest incarnation of this venerable springer, the Comet SE.

As we saw recently with the Meteor Super, BSA has brought the production of its springers back to Britain, or more precisely back to Birmingham, which is glorious news. The rifle on test here is in .22 calibre, wears a synthetic stock and comes equipped with open sights with fibre-optic inserts, orange at the front and green at the rear.

Interestingly, the muzzle has been threaded to accept a moderator. So while the Comet SE continues the BSA tradition, this rifle has been treated to some modern touches as well. No scope is provided, but the rifle has a dovetail rail for mounting your choice of optic.
