HOW TO SAVE A LIFE

Opening up the dishwasher, I grabbed the mugs on the side and began stacking them up.

Me and my husband Neil, then 59, had been out in the garden all morning putting up a gazebo and we’d left the kitchen in a mess.

I had the day off work so we were doing odd jobs around the house.

After our morning of fixing up the gazebo, on a sunny day in July 2022, I’d sent him off to pick up a screwdriver on his way back from badminton. Only, he had come back empty handed.

‘Sorry love,’ he said, coming through the door. ‘I started to feel a bit funny so came straight back.’

‘Oh,’ I said. ‘What do you mean?’

‘My chest feels strange,’ he said.

It didn’t seem to be causing him too much pain and he said it was more uncomfortable than anything.

But after some persuading, he let me ring
