It’s been a year since cruising resumed in Australia after its COVID pause, and the signs for the summer season ahead are looking good. The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) is expecting around 60 international cruise ships in Australian waters in the 2023-24 summer peak season, a big leap on the 40-odd ships that visited last summer. Which means that already, cruising in Australia will be back to the pre-pandemic highs.
“The Australian market is showing every sign that it has embraced the worldwide cruising revival,” says CLIA’s Managing Director Australasia, Joel Katz. “Globally, cruise passenger volumes are expected to return to pre-pandemic levels by the end of 2023.”
