Over many years, John Cairns had built up a keen interest in vintage British bicycles, but recently he found the desire to enter the world of classic car ownership too. “It seemed a natural step to take, other than a car takes up far more room than a bicycle,” John says. “As all my cycles were built in the UK, I started looking at a classic British car which would continue that theme.”

While that would seem a sensible approach to take, John also had a strong connection with the USA, having taken numerous holidays there along with many road trips. “I’d travelled around the States and spent a lot of time there over the years,” John explains. “I love everything about the country and the idea of owning, or even importing an American car into the UK came to mind.”

Mixing old car ownership with his American interests seemed a perfect way of fulfilling John’s needs.
