Sometimes you just hit the proverbial nail on the head. It’s that precise moment where several of life’s variables cross paths; the point where necessity, want, and financial capability intersect and become a realized purchase point for a valued consumer.
Some say frugality can bite back and take a toll on the buyer. However, in some instances a good case of thriftiness, aided by an understanding of the product and its market, pays off in the biggest of ways, with lifelong reliability and long-term goals fulfilled. Case in point, this one-family-owned 1960 Plymouth Savoy on these pages.
Ben Deutschman is the owner and caretaker of this four-door sedan that has been in his family for the last 62 years. “This Savoy was purchased new by my father on June 13, 1960, right here in my hometown of Metuchen, New Jersey, at the now-defunct Rossmeyer Chrysler-Plymouth dealership. The purchase came on the heels of my family moving into a new home here in town,” Ben says.
